He is played by British comedian, actor and writer, Nick Mohammed.
He is working the computer when they receive their first communication from Mark Watney, asking if they are receiving him and giving them "yes" or "no" options to point the camera at. Despite Vincent's instruction to respond, Tim questions the practicality of using Pathfinder's camera for complex communications given the time it takes for the probe to receive and send back a signal, only for Bruce to tell him to "point the damn camera." Later, he picks up on Watney's use of hexidecimals and helps the JPL crew set up a mirrored version with their own Pathfinder replica.
He is quite socially awkward.
